Important Information

Do you have a passport?

U.S. Citizens: If you are a U.S citizen and hold a current passport, please make sure it will be valid for at least 6 months after the date of your World School trip. If you do not have at least 6 months left after the date of your World School trip, you may need to apply for a passport renewal.

If you are a U.S. citizen and do not have a passport or need to apply for a passport renewal, please begin the process now. You may visit http://www.usps.com/passport/ for information on both how to obtain a new passport and renew a current one.

Non-U.S. citizens: If you are not a US citizen, and hold a passport from another country, you must check with the consulate of the country you plan to visit and find out if you require a Tourist Visa.

How do I find out about a Tourist Visa? The following link will take you to the page on the U.S Department of State website that lists links to foreign embassies in the U.S.: http://www.state.gov/misc/10125.htm#F.

From here you may link to the country you plan to visit and search that site for information on Tourist Visas. If you require a Tourist Visa, please begin the process of obtaining the visa immediately.

Obtaining a Tourist Visa often requires mailing your passport with an application to the Embassy or Consulate and this process can take up to a month to complete, sometimes longer.

If you need assistance with your Tourist Visa process, please let World School know.

Non-U.S. citizen, but have a Green Card If you hold a foreign passport and a U.S. Green Card, you need to follow the instructions for Non-U.S. citizens above.

A U.S. Green Card is not a substitute for a U.S. passport and without a proper Tourist Visa to accompany your foreign passport officials may not let you into their country. Don't take the chance!

World School wants to see all students give themselves the opportunity to travel the world. If you think a World School program is out of your budget, think again.

World School designed the Sponsor-A-Scholar Program so that students can raise money to pay for their program cost. Raising money for your World School adventure is totally possible as long as you and your family are committed to the program. Many past students have raised the full program cost through the Sponsor-A-Scholar Program and you can too.

For more information on the Sponsor-A-Scholar Program, click here.

Staying healthy during international travel always makes the journey more pleasant. World School recommends that students and parents contact their family physician and advise them of the student's international travel plans.

Please make sure you have sufficient supplies of all prescribed medicines and over the counter medication you may be taking before departing on your World School program.

For further information on healthy travel, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website at: http://www.cdc.gov/travel/. On this site, you will find answers to most travelers' health related questions.

If your World School program of choice requires vaccinations beyond routine healthy living (Hep A/B, Tetanus, etc.), you should discuss travel vaccines with your doctor at least 4-6 weeks prior to departure.

World School requires that all participating students and their parents sign the World School Contract. This contract is an agreement between all three parties: World School, the student and the parents, acknowledging the need for acceptable behavior and what constitutes grounds for immediate dismissal from the programs.

To review the World School Contract, please click here. You will be sent a copy to sign upon acceptance for participation in World School programs.
